YOU’RE INVITED!

Join us in Vancouver on October 20-21, 2026, for CDR26 — the first in a series of annual global summits dedicated to mobilzing government action on CDR. CDR26’s unique position in the climate conference ecosystem is that it is government-centric and action-oriented, reporting on tech and policy progress in all CDR sectors, showcasing new developments and partnerships, and accelerating collaboration and coordination between national and subnational governments, industry, science, and civil society. Organized by the global Carbon Dioxide Removal Action Network (CDRANet), CDR26 will mark the first annual gathering of the global CDR community where we focus on building the bridges, partnerships and capacity needed to scale CDR quickly, safely, sustainably, and equitably.

OVERVIEW

CDR26 will be a public-facing event for 500-700 guests, featuring:

  • Short, dynamic presentations on current actions and progress in CDR
  • Research innovation, technology, and policy show & tell and quick-pitch sessions
  • Expert roundtables
  • Press interviews
  • Posters and small exhibits, and
  • Signing of the landmark Vancouver Declaration on Carbon Dioxide Removal, the world’s first soft-law agreement on CDR.

CDR26’s UNIQUE PLACE IN THE climate CONFERENCE ECOSYSTEM

The CDR conference series (beginning with CDR26) is built for driving the growth of government involvement in CDR. Its central mission is help countries work together now to start transforming CDR from a scattered collection of projects into a coordinated and dynamic global effort.

Each event focuses on building frameworks for agreement (such as the Vancouver Declaration), educating government policymakers, and linking sectors that need to act together — for example, connecting direct air capture developers with utilities, regulators, and financiers.

While other CDR conferences focus on elements of the scaling challenge like market growth, MRV standards, or technology , the CDR series is the only one designed to pull all these elements into a singular focus on global action, and into building the multilateral foundations for large-scale CDR deployment.

CDR26 convenes a uniquely diverse and globally representative audience — national and subnational government officials, multilateral institutions, scientific and technical experts, industry leaders, and civil-society partners — to discuss how CDR can be integrated safely, equitably, and effectively into national and global climate strategies.

Its format is public-facing and inclusive, combining TED-style presentations, policy roundtables, signing ceremonies, and open dialogue among stakeholders. The emphasis is on building a global network for colleborative action, not on market promotion or academic specialization.

By bridging governments, industry, science, policy, and civil society, the CDR series fills a crucial gap: it is the meeting point where innovation and governance align to turn ambition into coordinated, real-world action.

Unlike most conferences that conclude when the lights go out, CDR26 is the beginning of an ongoing global process. It will serve as the annual checkpoint for implementing the Vancouver Declaration and related policy roadmaps — tracking progress, updating goals, and fostering new partnerships each year (CDR27, CDR28, and beyond).

This continuity ensures that the CDR series functions not just as a conference, but as a global institution for cooperation — a place where governments, scientists, and industries return each year to measure progress, strengthen alignment, and refine collective strategy.
