Climate Analytics released a new reported today at Baku detailing how the most realistic short-term temperature increase for our planet might be as high as 3.4C, more than twice our current target of 1.5C. See the full report at Global Update – November 2024 – As the climate crisis worsens, the warming outlook stagnates.
The New York Times published a summary of this report’s findings at A Big Climate Goal Is Getting Further Out of Reach. Quoting the Times article, “‘We are clearly failing to bend the curve,’ said Sofia Gonzales-Zuñiga, a climate policy specialist at Climate Analytics, a science and policy organization, and a lead author of the report. ‘As the world edges closer to these dangerous climate thresholds, the need for immediate, stronger action to reverse this trend becomes ever more urgent.'”
